P. Pat Banerjee, Ph.D.
P. Pat Banerjee, Ph.D., is Professor of Mechanical, Industrial, Bioengineering and Computer Science at UIC. His current research interests include virtual reality and haptics-based simulations; local and telecollaborative virtual reality-based application models; avatar representations; immersive learning effectiveness and display interfaces; and linear and non-linear computational optimization models. In addition to over 100 publications in his area of research expertise, he has served as a department editor of IIE Transactions, as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation and as a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Image and Graphics.
Professor Banerjee has developed a virtual exercise environment for RecTech during the first cycle of funding and will continue his work in this important area. Professor Banerjee is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has served on the 2002 Research Visionary Board at Motorola Labs. His work has garnered unsolicited news media coverage from Business Week, TIME, Chronicle of Higher Education, MIT's Technology Review, Crain's Chicago Business, CBS News Radio, and National Public Radio.
